Given the urgent need to ensure energy security and self-reliance to meet India’s growing electricity demand, the transition to clean energy will be market-driven. And in the long term, renewable, as the least-cost source of electricity, will win the race. I am pleased to note that the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and the Exhibitions India Group are co-jointly organising the Smart Energy India/8th Smart Cities India expo and the 30th Convergence India expo from 27-29 March 2023 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Core to the development of urban centres, especially smart cities have the ability to provide 24X7 power, which can be easily sourced through renewable power. As part of its commitment towards creating a cleaner future, the organisers are making commendable efforts in achieving the goals set by the government with active participations from the economy as a whole. Finally, I wish the event to be a grand success.
